I shot this image in the morning in blinding sunlight with extremely harsh shadows. For a long time I wanted to photograph one of these carts that postmen in Vienna use. While they enter a house, it stands outside on the sidewalk, and when you’re lucky, the street is empty and you have time enough to compose an image. What came out of the camera did not satisfy me at all. The final result, a 17 layer job, sure does

This is very striking Andreas. The blast of color in the cart against the solidity and blandness of the building coupled with the way the light falls and the composition is a great juxtaposition. The way you’ve used the blur along the wall of the building against the sharpness of the cart only further serves to accentuate that.
Thanks. In fact this was a very complicated process in Photoshop. It changed daylight to this sort of Gotham City twilight, and I’ve also applied a radial blur of the zoom type, multiplied some distorted edge layers in. Technically it’s much like “683 – Welcome To The Republic” on my blog.
