Subway Shuffle . . . by Brian Auer

This one was taken with my twin lens reflex on a roll of Ilford Delta 3200 film. The camera is meter-less, so the exposure was very much approximated. The subways are so dim that even with a high-speed film, the shutter speed had to be fairly slow. This was probably shot with a wide open aperture (f/3.5) at around 1/25 or 1/50 seconds.
I got this shot set up by crouching down and pre-focusing in the area I expected somebody to walk by. I waited for a train to come in, and then I waited for a person to walk by so I could shoot their legs.
I left the slight tilt in the photo because I feel goes well with the other “issues” in the photo — motion blur, heavy grain, etc.
