Fine Art Photoblog

Fine Art Photography by a Collection of Fine Photographers

It’s Official… We Have Text . . .     by Brian Auer

After a week of testing things out, we’ve concluded that the Fine Art Photoblog is fairly in-shape for text articles and news notifications. We still have a little bit of tweaking to do on some minor items, but all the big stuff is working smoothly. This new feature should allow us to tell everybody about important things happening out there, and maybe we’ll publish a few informative articles here and there.

On the website, you’ll now notice a “News” item along the top menu-bar and an “Announcement” section in the sidebar. The menu item will bring you to the archive for the news/text articles, and the announcement section will show the 5 latest articles.

You’ll also notice that the “News” posts won’t show up on the homepage, photo archives, or search. We did this so that the photoblog would stay focused on the photos rather than the articles. The author archives don’t currently display the news pieces, but in the near future you’ll see an icon for each news piece that particular author has published.

And rather than wasting a perfectly good blog post, I’ll throw in a little self promotion…

SPECIAL-OFFER PRINTS

Over at my personal photography blog, I’m offering up a small selection of analog prints for just $25 each. These are 8×10 unsigned prints intended for decoration only, and they’re printed in my makeshift darkroom using the old techniques (yeah, with the chemicals and stuff). This is a pretty good offer for the amount of time that goes into each print, and I’m only offering it up for a short period. April 17, 2009 is the deadline to get your order in — and buy a print on or before April 4 and you’ll get a 2nd one for free! Check it out — your support is much appreciated:

How does 1 be considered to become a contributing photographer?

  2. Both times we brought in new photographers, it was done via a portfolio review open to the general public and announced on several blogs. Now that we have text article capabilities, if and when we decide to bring on more we’ll be announcing it here on the blog.
