I recently visited the Devonian Botanic Garden and took some shots along the way, one of which was this of a Pink Coneflower (Echinachea). As I was about to take the shot, a lovely little bee decided to add his presence to the shot. This was shot outdoors handheld using the Canon 5D Mark II with a Canon 100mm micro lens. Because the light was bring and the sun was out, it was tricky trying to decide on the DOF as the flowers were large and so I wanted to get most of the flower in focus but a shallower DOF lent itself to a better result since the flower was in a garden with lots to distract in terms of background. In terms of processing, I did little but did decrease the luminance of the greens in Lightroom to make them a bit darker, as well as added a slight post-crop vignette, again to darker the edges of the image.
