Taken during high winds the day after heavy snowfall, what looks like sand is really a winter wonderland. This image struck me for its simplicity, yet impression of complexity – minimalism is among my favorite styles of photography.

  1. I agree with you, minimalism is wonderful when seen well, which is what you have done here. This is not stark minimalism but is full of energy and life, even if it is snow and dead tree. Until I read the caption, I thought it was a desert sand dune overrunning some trees. Very nice.

  2. Good picture of “lines and tones”. I like this, and i’m trying to work in it (more in macro).

  3. I too thought that this was a desert-tree-in-a-dune picture, which makes the picture even better as as far as I know trees usually don’t hang out in dunes. I like minimalism in art, I found that this style usually sold best in my art gallery. I think it is because people have so much in their heads that something complex just gets washed into the mix whereas something simple and straight forward can “penetrate” the mental fog people walk around in.

    Anyway, great shot!

  4. Thank you for your comments, everyone, I’m way behind on replying and apologize. Seeing all this support for minimalism, I’ll have post some more. :-) Thanks again!

  5. That is all right mate, just keep shooting!
