I took this image on a very chilly drive in the Shields Valley of southern Montana. Raised on a ranch and being from a rural area, agriculture is a part of my life but I rarely photograph the theme specifically. There is a simplicity in the lifestyle that is very appealing and I tried to capture that with this print – a minimalist approach to the rancher’s prize. I recently produced a composite with this image and another similar photo and was rather surprised by what I found. I don’t usually do composite image work, but this one originated from the technical side and I’m glad I was curious…
