One of my favorite places in Montana is Natural Bridge State Park along the Boulder River. An amazing spectacle of the power of water, the river disappears into a giant hole in the ground and comes out 100 yards away in the face of a large cliff. Higher waters this spring will fill the tunnel to capacity and the river will begin pouring over the edge about 100 feet directly above the current mouth. Unfortunately, the namesake of this area no longer exists - the natural bridge that once spanned the river collapsed 10 or 15 years ago. Still, the area is quite unique and impressive despite the bridge’s absence.
