Tempest Blooms . . . by Cody Redmon

The Gravelly Mountains of Montana are a bit of a hidden secret. It’s not that people don’t know they’re there, most folks just don’t make the trip until hunting season…long after the wildflowers have come and gone. From this image, you’d never guess that it was taken at nearly 9,000 feet, but that’s the secret of this beautiful range. Old, tired mountaintops, rolling into meadows as far as you can see along a 100-mile stretch of gravel roads. Only open to vehicles between July 1 and the first snowfall in October, I prefer to make the trip earlier than later. But this year saw a very long winter and, as a result, the wildflowers lasted much later into the summer.

Nice work
Thank you, Folu.
