Sunset on Lakes Entrance . . . by Neil Creek

Lakes Entrance is a fishing port and tourist town located on the Southeastern coast of Victoria, Australia. It is near a natural channel which connects the Gippsland Lakes to Bass Strait. The town has been a popular holiday destination for generations of Victorians, yet has managed to retain its small town rural charm. Surfing on the nearby Ninety Mile Beach is a popular attraction, as is fishing from the many piers and bridges in the area. Family entertainment such as mini-golf and the popular Shell Museum cater to all ages.
This sunset was truly one of the most magnificent I’ve ever seen. Everyone in the town stopped to watch the spectacle and I shot many dozens of photos, trying to capture the glorious warm golden light that flooded the river. This is a High Dynamic Range photo, comprised of three exposures at different settings to capture a broader range of detail in the highlights and shadows.

That is absolutely superb! One of the best HDRs, and all-around photos, I’ve seen!
You’re absolutely right Neil. HDR is often abused.. people tend to go crazy with the light smoothing.
Great, natural looking photo. Well done.
