Dream River . . .     by Andreas Manessinger

High Dynamic range (HDR) image of a sundown over an autumn river in Carinthia, Austria

This is an HDR image made of four out of nine bracketed exposures. I used HDRsoft’s Photomatix Pro. For tone mapping I used the rather conservative Tone Compressor algorithm. White balance is deliberately on the warm side. The result is a dreamy landscape, just like an old painting.

Signed prints available for $490 USD.

  1. This is really lovely Andreas–the HDR worked so nicely on this and the tones and detail are wonderful.

  2. Thanks. Well, actually I think the most important factor in why this image works so well, is white balance. This warmer-than-real conveys much more atmosphere than a neutral white balance could.

  3. Wow, this HDR image is amazing….. I honestly spent about a minute looking through the image before scrolling down to post this comment… it was worth my time….

  4. Thanks. I feel honored, really. I DO know what a minute on the Internet means :)

  5. Fabulous landscape. Nice use of war colours
