I made this image while visiting the Big Island of Hawaii. I love the colors surrounding the motion of the waterfalls. The water’s was captured with a very slow shutter speed – 1/2 second – hand held! The image stabilized lens saved the day. Camera specs; Canon 5D fitted with 24-105mm F4 IS lens at 32mm, F22 @ 1/2 second at ISO 800.

  1. Incredible! The colors are so vibrant! Boy do I miss my 24-105 IS lens…

  2. That is impressive. You’ve got a very steady hand, because it’s difficult to truly reach the “four stops slower” they claim on the IS and VR lenses

  3. beauty of a shot mate. I used to do marketing for a large natural pond builder. It was by far the most fun doing a product shoot. You know certain product shoots are by nature a lot of fun to do, ponds, bikini models, motorcycles, etc, and others not so fun, office supplies, government buildings for a lame brochure, etc.

Anyway this is a great shot, especially without a tripod!

  4. It’s a shame that you used ISO800. Obvioiusly you had a tripod.
