Oooh, What A Lucky Man I Was . . .     by Andreas Manessinger

An image of Il Duomo in Firenze, Italy

I shot this image from the tripod. Just as I was done framing, a car came by to park in front of these poles, right in my composition. You can see the light from the car’s headlights on the poles and on the ground. I managed to have the exposure done only a second before the car would have entered the view. I was lucky, because it’s exactly that light that makes the image.

The church? Oh, that’s Firenze, Italy. Il Duomo.

Signed prints available for $490 USD.

  1. Wow - I’m not that lucky LOL. I really like the lines and the warped feeling from the church.

  2. I really like this. I really like the way the straight lines of the church walls appear curved, even though they’re not, thanks to the tilt of the camera. I also like the way that the poles are the real subject of the picture, as if suggesting that a person has knocked them down, gone in, and messed up the perspective. Very cool.
