Spiral . . . by Andrew Gibson

As well as shooting my regular travel photography I decided that I wanted to try for something with more of an arty feel. We sat down to drink coffee one afternoon in San Antonio de Areco, outside a small coffee shop in a patio with metal chairs and tables. I liked the ornate spirals on the chairs and took some photos while we waited for our order. I used my Canon 17-40mm lens. It’s not a macro lens but focuses remarkably close and takes beautiful close up photos. I converted the image to black and white and toned it blue. Normally I tone my photos sepia but wanted to try something different and eye catching.
