I’ve recently been inspired to start playing with textures in my photos. I’ve seen a lot of photos with textures on Flickr and also on the book covers of novels in my local bookstore. Using photos modified with textures on book covers seems to be trendy at the moment.
The girl in the photo is called Laura and for this portrait she was laying on grass in a churchyard amongst the daisies. I used a flash to light her face as she was laying in the sun, which creates harsh shadows. The texture was added afterwards in Photoshop, and I played with the blending modes, levels, curves and saturation until I came up with this image.
